CRISSEY PRIZE FOR BEST BOOK OF DERMATOLOGY

The History of Dermatology Society has awarded the John T. Crissey Award every year since 2023, to recognize outstanding books that contributes to the understanding and advancement of dermatology.

The award is named after noted dermatologist Dr. John Thorne Crissey, a renowned dermatologist, historian, and author who has made significant contributions to the field of dermatology. Doctor Crissey has dedicated his life to advancing dermatology and preserving its history.

The Crissey Prize is to inspire future generations of dermatologists to strive for excellence in their clinical practice and academic pursuits.

The prize is open to authors worldwide. Papers to be considered for the Crissey Prize should be submitted to Mark Valentine, MD by November 1 of each year. The contributions will be judged based on relevance to dermatology, originality of content and research, and writing style.

Authors will be notified by email of the status of the contest before the end of the calendar year, and the winning contribution will receive recognition at the annual dinner of the Society, as well as an engraved plaque honoring the book author(s). The Society meets in the late winter, the day prior to the official opening of the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.
